Truffle pricing and Truffle credits cost per one-way interview compared with 9 screening tools

The short answer

Truffle pricing is credit based. Starter costs $49 a month (monthly billing only) for 200 credits, Core $99 a month billed annually or $119 monthly for 600, Team $199 or $239 for 1,500, and Scale $499 or $599 for 4,000. A resume screen uses 1 credit, an assessed candidate 2 and a completed one-way video interview 5, so one Truffle interview costs about 62 cents to $1.25. Extra credits are 25 cents on Core and up. We read these figures on hiretruffle.com/pricing on October 15, 2026.

Truffle is a candidate screening tool for small and mid-sized teams. One shared pool of credits pays for three things: an AI match score on each resume, short assessments, and one-way video interviews that candidates record on their own time and that Truffle's AI then summarizes and scores. Every plan includes unlimited positions and unlimited team members, and there is no sales call unless you need more than 4,000 credits a month.

The catch is that Truffle changed its model this year, and much of the web has not caught up. Its own FAQ says the flat $149 a month plan was retired in June 2026, yet software directories and searches for HireTruffle pricing still turn up $149, $99 or $129 as the starting price. This page sets out the current plans, how far a credit pool really goes when you interview, and how the price per interview compares with nine other tools, each figure read from the vendor's own site on the date shown. We build one of those tools, an AI agent that conducts and scores the first-round interview by phone, voice or video, so treat that as a disclosed interest.

Why it works

What your team gets with Truffle pricing

Talent acquisition team planning monthly interview volume on a whiteboard

Priced per interview, not per credit

Plans are published at $149, $399, $999 and $1,998 a month, or half that billed yearly, so you can set our cost per conducted interview next to Truffle's before any call.

The agent asks the follow-up

A conversation by phone, voice or video, not a recording. When an answer is vague, the agent asks the next question a good recruiter would.

A recruiter makes the call

Every candidate reaches a recruiter with a transcript and the evidence behind each score. The agent never rejects anyone on its own.

What it handles

Interviewed, scored and shortlisted on autopilot

The agent invites each applicant, runs a role-tailored screening interview by voice or video, asks smart follow-ups, scores every answer against your rubric, and advances the strongest candidates into a ranked shortlist for your recruiters to review.

  • Calls each applicant from your company's verified number, or interviews by voice, video or in writing from a link
  • Asks follow-up questions when an answer stays thin, which a one-way recording cannot do
  • Scores every answer against anchors your team wrote, identically for each candidate
  • Returns a ranked shortlist with transcripts your recruiters can check in minutes
  • Costs about 66 cents to $1.49 per conducted interview on published plans

Why InterviewAgent.ai

One agent that runs the whole first round

Not a one-way video tool, not a six-figure assessment suite, and not a staffing agency. Interview, score, rank and hand off in one place, shaped to the roles and rubric you already hire on.

Interviews every applicant

A role-tailored screening interview runs by voice or video, with smart follow-ups, on the candidate's schedule. Applicants consent and are told they are speaking with AI, so no qualified person waits days for a first call.

Scores to your rubric

Every answer is scored against the same structured rubric, with transcripts and highlights, so candidates are compared consistently and the scoring stays bias-audited against EEOC guidance and NYC Local Law 144.

Ranks the shortlist

The strongest candidates are advanced into a ranked shortlist your recruiters review. The agent never auto-hires or rejects, it only surfaces who to talk to next, and your team makes every decision.

Nine of the ten vendors print a price. Truffle is the only one that charges the same pool for resumes, tests and interviews, so compare it on the mix you actually run, not on the sticker. How much does Truffle cost?

Truffle costs $49 a month on Starter, which is billed monthly only, and $99, $199 or $499 a month on Core, Team and Scale when billed annually. Month to month, those three are $119, $239 and $599. A year on Core is $1,188, on Team $2,388 and on Scale $5,988, which is what Truffle means by two months free. Above 4,000 credits a month it quotes a Custom plan on a call. We read all of this on hiretruffle.com/pricing on October 15, 2026.

Truffle plans differ by the size of the monthly credit pool, not by features. Truffle's FAQ says every feature is on every plan, including AI match scores, Candidate Shorts, ATS and Zapier integrations, unlimited positions and unlimited team members. The plan cards do tie two things to Core and up: credits that roll over for 12 months, and the option to buy extra credits at 25 cents each. Starter is a hard cap with no overage, and Core and up add personalized onboarding.

  • Truffle Starter plan: $49 a month, monthly only, 200 credits, hard cap, no rollover
  • Truffle Core: $99 a month billed annually or $119 monthly, 600 credits
  • Truffle Team: $199 a month billed annually or $239 monthly, 1,500 credits
  • Truffle Scale: $499 a month billed annually or $599 monthly, 4,000 credits

How do Truffle credits work?

Every screening action draws from one monthly pool. An AI match score on a resume costs 1 credit, an assessed candidate costs 2 and a completed one-way video interview costs 5. Truffle charges only when a screening produces a result, so a candidate who never starts or does not finish an interview costs nothing. That is a fair rule for one-way video, where a meaningful share of invited candidates never record.

Truffle says a typical role takes about 150 to 250 credits, and its own example shows why the pool empties faster than the headline suggests: 240 resumes, 45 assessments and 15 interviews come to 405 credits in a month. That is two thirds of a Core pool for one busy role. Unused credits on Core, Team and Scale roll over for 12 months, up to three months' worth, and are forfeited if you downgrade or cancel.

What does a Truffle one-way interview cost?

Counting interviews alone, a Truffle one-way interview costs about $1.23 on Starter (200 credits buy 40 interviews), 83 cents on Core billed annually, 66 cents on Team and 62 cents on Scale. Billed monthly, Core works out to 99 cents, Team to 80 cents and Scale to 75 cents. Past the pool, every extra interview costs $1.25 at 25 cents a credit. Truffle's own page states the same range of 62 cents to $1.25.

Those figures assume the whole pool goes on interviews. Most teams also screen resumes in Truffle, and every resume spends a credit. A role with 100 applicants and 30 interviews uses 250 credits, so a Core pool covers about two such roles a month, not four. Compare that with the cost of our own plans: Starter billed yearly is $888 for up to 100 interviews a month, about 74 cents each, and Growth billed yearly is $2,388 for up to 300, about 66 cents. At 300 interviews a month, a year on Truffle Team and a year on our Growth plan cost exactly the same $2,388.

  • Truffle Starter: $49 for 40 interviews, about $1.23 each
  • Truffle Core, annual: $99 for 120 interviews, about 83 cents each
  • Truffle Team, annual: $199 for 300 interviews, about 66 cents each
  • Truffle Scale, annual: $499 for 800 interviews, about 62 cents each
  • InterviewAgent.ai Growth, yearly: $199 a month for up to 300 conducted interviews, about 66 cents each

Did Truffle drop the $149 plan?

Yes. Truffle's pricing FAQ says the flat $149 a month plan was retired in June 2026 and replaced by the credit plans, and that there is no Growth or Pro plan. If a directory listing or an older review quotes Truffle at $149 a month, $99 a month with 150 candidates, or $99 to $129 for a Starter tier, it is describing pricing a new account cannot buy. We found all three figures on software directories in October 2026.

Existing customers may still sit on the old plan, so if you are renewing rather than buying, ask Truffle which model your account moves to. For a new buyer the practical point is simpler: estimate your monthly resumes, assessments and interviews, multiply by 1, 2 and 5, and pick the smallest pool that covers the total with a little room.

Is Truffle billed monthly or annually?

Both, except Starter, which is monthly only. On Core, Team and Scale the annual rate saves about 17%, and Truffle says an annual plan makes the full year of credits available up front. Truffle advertises no contracts and says you can upgrade or downgrade as your needs change, though rolled-over credits are lost on a downgrade.

The choice turns on how steady your hiring is. A team that hires every month and can forecast its pool is better off annual. A seasonal employer that interviews heavily for one quarter may pay less on monthly Team for three months ($717) than on a year of Core ($1,188), and gets a bigger pool while it matters.

Where Truffle is the better buy

Truffle does things we do not, and a buyer should weigh them honestly. It screens resumes, runs short assessments and collects one-way video in one tool from one pool of credits, so a team that wants all three stages from a single vendor gets them for as little as $49 a month. Every plan has unlimited team members, which matters to a team with many occasional reviewers, and the seven-day trial with 30 credits needs no card. Its 30-second Candidate Shorts are a quick way to share a recording with a hiring manager.

What Truffle does not do is hold the conversation. A one-way interview is a recording: the candidate answers fixed questions on camera, and nobody asks a follow-up when an answer stays vague. Our agent conducts the first round instead. It calls the candidate from your company's own verified number, or interviews by voice, video or in writing from a link, asks a follow-up when an answer is thin, scores each answer against anchors your team wrote, and shows the quote behind every score. A recruiter makes every decision. How the scoring works is set out on interview scorecard software.

What are the best Truffle alternatives on price?

Among tools that print a price, Hirevire starts at $39 a month billed yearly and Hireflix at $75 a month billed yearly, both for recordings your team reviews. Spark Hire is $249 a month billed annually. For an AI that conducts the interview, InterviewAgent.ai starts at $149 a month or $888 a year for up to 100 interviews, HappyFleet at $149 a month for 20 phone interviews with an ATS, Interviewer.AI at $199 a month and Ribbon AI at $499 a month billed annually.

Pick on the job first. If you mainly need to cut a pile of resumes and see a short recorded answer, Truffle is priced well for that. If what costs you time is the first conversation, the phone screen a recruiter used to run, compare tools that ask the questions themselves. Our Hireflix pricing page covers the cheapest recorder in detail, and the full field is in our Truffle alternatives guide.

Good questions

Questions about Truffle pricing

No. The Truffle free trial lasts seven days with 30 credits and no card required, which covers about six one-way interviews. After that the cheapest plan is Starter at $49 a month for 200 credits. There is no permanent free plan on the pricing page we read on October 15, 2026.
Only as many as the credits allow, at 5 credits per completed one-way interview. Starter covers up to 40 a month, Core 120, Team 300 and Scale 800, but only if nothing else is screened. Resume scores (1 credit) and assessments (2 credits) come out of the same pool.
No. Every Truffle plan includes unlimited team members and unlimited positions. You pay for the size of the monthly credit pool only, and a candidate who does not finish a screening is not charged.
Truffle lists ATS and Zapier integrations on every plan. Its page names Ashby, Breezy HR, Bullhorn, JazzHR, Pinpoint, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Workable and Indeed, with other apps through Zapier. Confirm how your specific ATS connects before you buy.
Truffle says there are no contracts and that you can upgrade or downgrade as needs change. Rolled-over credits are forfeited if you downgrade or cancel, so spend a banked pool before you move to a smaller plan.
At high volume, very little: Truffle Scale works out to about 62 cents per one-way interview. At 300 interviews a month, our Growth plan billed yearly costs the same $2,388 a year as Truffle Team, and each of those is a conducted interview with follow-ups rather than a recording.
