Workstream pricing and Workstream cost for the Hiring plan and AI screening compared with 9 tools

The short answer

Workstream does not publish a price. Its pricing page lists four plans, Hiring, Essentials, All-in-one and Premium, with no dollar figure on any of them, and every plan card leads to Book a demo or Get in touch. Its VoiceAI and VideoAI screening are sold inside the Hiring plan, together with an applicant tracking system, text-to-apply and job posting, not as a separate product. The only offer on the page is up to 8 months free on the Payroll and All-in-One plan, terms apply. We read the page on October 19, 2026.

Workstream is a hiring, onboarding and payroll platform built for hourly employers, with most of its marketing aimed at multi-location restaurants and franchise operators. Its hiring product includes VoiceAI, which Workstream says handles routine conversations like screening applicants, answering their questions and rescheduling interviews, and VideoAI screening. Those two features are why many owners comparing AI phone screening end up on its pricing page.

What they find there is a feature grid and no numbers. That is a normal way to sell a suite, but it leaves a buyer who only wants the screening step unable to compare. This page sets out exactly what each Workstream plan contains, what the absence of a published price means in practice, and what nine other screening and interview tools charge, each figure read from the vendor's own site on the date shown. We build one of those tools, an AI agent that conducts and scores the first-round interview by phone, voice or video, so treat that as a disclosed interest.

Why it works

What your team gets with Workstream pricing

A price you can read today

Plans are published at $149, $399, $999 and $1,998 a month, or half that billed yearly, so you can work out your cost per screened applicant before any demo.

Screening without a new ATS

The agent runs the first round and hands back a scored shortlist with transcripts, without moving your hiring into a different applicant tracking system.

A recruiter makes the call

Every candidate reaches a person with the evidence behind each score. The agent never rejects anyone on its own.

What it handles

Interviewed, scored and shortlisted on autopilot

The agent invites each applicant, runs a role-tailored screening interview by voice or video, asks smart follow-ups, scores every answer against your rubric, and advances the strongest candidates into a ranked shortlist for your recruiters to review.

  • Calls each applicant from your company's verified number between 8 am and 9 pm in their time zone, up to three attempts
  • Says it is an AI and that the call is recorded, and starts only when the candidate presses 1
  • Asks follow-up questions when an answer stays thin, and scores every answer against your anchors
  • Returns a ranked shortlist with transcripts your managers can check in minutes
  • Costs about 66 cents to $1.49 per conducted interview on published plans

Why InterviewAgent.ai

One agent that runs the whole first round

Not a one-way video tool, not a six-figure assessment suite, and not a staffing agency. Interview, score, rank and hand off in one place, shaped to the roles and rubric you already hire on.

Interviews every applicant

A role-tailored screening interview runs by voice or video, with smart follow-ups, on the candidate's schedule. Applicants consent and are told they are speaking with AI, so no qualified person waits days for a first call.

Scores to your rubric

Every answer is scored against the same structured rubric, with transcripts and highlights, so candidates are compared consistently and the scoring stays bias-audited against EEOC guidance and NYC Local Law 144.

Ranks the shortlist

The strongest candidates are advanced into a ranked shortlist your recruiters review. The agent never auto-hires or rejects, it only surfaces who to talk to next, and your team makes every decision.

Seven of the ten vendors print a price. Workstream and Paradox are the two hourly-hiring suites that sell by quote, and both bundle screening with much more than screening. The phone-first tools in this table are compared in depth on AI phone screening, and the closest priced rival for restaurant and trades hiring is broken down on our Classet pricing page.

How much does Workstream cost?

Workstream does not say. Its pricing page names four plans and lists what each contains, but shows no monthly price, no per-location rate, no per-employee rate and no free trial. To get a number you book a demo and receive a proposal. We read the page on October 19, 2026, and the same is true on the major software directories, which show contact the vendor for pricing, and on PricingSaaS, which tracks all four plans as not disclosed.

Workstream hiring platform pricing is quoted, not listed, because Workstream bundles hiring with onboarding, payroll and benefits. The quote depends on which plan you take, how many locations and employees you run, which add-ons you pick and how long you sign for. Expect the Workstream cost of a payroll deal to look very different from a hiring-only deal for the same restaurant group. If you only need applicants screened, ask for the Hiring plan price on its own before the conversation moves to payroll.

What is included in each Workstream plan?

The Workstream plans stack. Each one includes everything in the plan below it, so the first question for a buyer who wants AI screening is simply which plan starts it. The answer is the bottom one: VoiceAI and VideoAI screening are listed in the Hiring plan.

  • Hiring (AI-assisted hiring): applicant tracking system, VoiceAI screening, VideoAI screening, AI hiring automations, text-to-apply, talent network, applicant messaging, interview scheduling, job board posting and unlimited Indeed job listings
  • Essentials (HR and team management): everything in Hiring plus mobile onboarding, documents and signatures, W-4, I-9 and E-Verify, rehire, offboarding, team chat, roster and a mobile worker app
  • All-in-one (payroll and compliance): everything in Essentials plus full-service payroll, tax filing, multi-EIN login, POS integration, AI-assisted payroll and compliance monitoring
  • Premium (benefits and custom): everything in All-in-one plus ACA eligibility tracking, automated benefits enrollment, IRS reporting, custom features and integrations, and advanced reporting and permissions
  • A la carte add-ons: Time and Scheduling, ACA and Benefits, and Workstream Compliance

Can you buy Workstream VoiceAI on its own?

Not from the pricing page. Workstream VoiceAI appears only as a line inside the Hiring plan, next to the applicant tracking system, and the page offers no screening-only option. If your team already runs an ATS it is happy with, buying VoiceAI means buying a second ATS around it, or moving your hiring into Workstream.

That is the real decision behind the price. For a restaurant group that also wants onboarding and payroll in one place, a bundle can be the cheaper path overall. For a staffing firm, a retailer or a single-site employer that only wants every applicant called and screened, it is a large purchase to solve a small problem. Tools that conduct the screen and send the result into the system you already use are compared on automated screening interview.

How much does Workstream payroll cost?

Workstream payroll pricing is not published either. Payroll sits in the All-in-one plan and above, and the only payroll figure on the page is a promotion: up to 8 months free on the Payroll and All-in-One plan, described as a limited offer with terms apply. The terms are not shown on the page, so ask what the monthly rate becomes in month nine and how long the contract runs before you weigh the free months.

Why do searches for Workstream pricing show different numbers?

Because several unrelated products share the name. Searches for Workstream pricing mix in a team workflow app for Slack and Microsoft Teams with per-user plans, cloud development workstations billed by the hour, and an old article about a different company's enterprise workforce suite. None of those prices apply to the hourly hiring platform at workstream.us. If a figure does not come from a Workstream proposal, treat it as belonging to someone else.

There is also a small inconsistency on the Workstream page itself: the Hiring plan says it posts to 25,000+ job boards, while the feature section lower down says 2,500+. Ask which figure applies to your plan if job distribution matters to you.

Where Workstream is the better buy

Workstream covers far more of the hourly employee lifecycle than we do, and a buyer should weigh that honestly. One vendor handles the job post, text-to-apply, screening, scheduling, I-9 and E-Verify, onboarding documents, payroll, tax filing and ACA tracking, with POS integration for restaurants. A multi-location operator who wants to replace three or four tools with one, and who is happy to run hiring inside a new ATS, may find the bundle good value once the proposal arrives.

What we do differently is narrower and published. Our agent conducts the first-round interview by phone from your company's own verified number, or by voice, video or in writing from a link, asks a follow-up when an answer stays vague, scores each answer against anchors your team wrote, and shows the quote behind every score. It does not post jobs, does not answer an inbound hiring line and does not run payroll. A recruiter makes every decision. How the scoring works is on interview scorecard software.

What are the best Workstream alternatives on price?

Among tools that conduct the screen and print a price, InterviewAgent.ai starts at $149 a month or $888 a year for up to 100 interviews, HappyFleet at $149 a month for 20 phone interviews with an ATS, Interviewer.AI at $199 a month, Classet at $249 a month billed annually for 50 completed phone interviews and Ribbon AI at $499 a month billed annually. Among tools that only record answers, Hireflix starts at $75 a month billed yearly and Spark Hire at $249.

Pick on the job first. If what you need is one system for hiring, onboarding and payroll across many locations, the useful comparison is Workstream against other hourly suites, and every one of them will quote. If what costs you applicants is the first call that nobody in the restaurant has time to make, compare Workstream alternatives that conduct that call and publish what they charge. Our high-volume hiring software page works through the cost per interview at volume.

Good questions

Questions about Workstream pricing

Not on its pricing page. The page we read on October 19, 2026 shows no free trial and no free plan. It does advertise up to 8 months free on the Payroll and All-in-One plan as a limited offer, with terms that are not shown on the page.
Workstream does not state a billing unit on its pricing page. Quotes for hourly suites usually depend on locations, employee count, modules and contract length, so ask the sales team which unit applies and whether the rate changes when you add a location.
The Hiring plan, which is the base plan. It lists VoiceAI screening and VideoAI screening alongside the applicant tracking system, text-to-apply, interview scheduling and job posting. Every higher plan includes it too.
Workstream says VoiceAI handles routine conversations like screening applicants, answering their questions and rescheduling interviews, and that it knows which questions it can and cannot ask during hiring. It runs inside the Workstream hiring platform rather than as a stand-alone tool.
For screening alone, yes. Several tools publish prices from $149 a month, including ours for up to 100 conducted interviews and HappyFleet for 20 phone interviews with an ATS. Whether that is cheaper overall depends on whether you also need Workstream's onboarding and payroll.
