Sapia.ai competitors: 12 AI chat, voice and video interview platforms compared
The short answer
Sapia.ai competitors split by what the candidate is actually asked to do. Sapia.ai runs a text chat interview, so there is no video and no voice, and it is built for employers hiring more than 500 people a year into frontline roles. Its closest chat-based rivals are Paradox and Humanly. A second group replaces the first-round call with a conversational AI agent that speaks: InterviewAgent.ai, Alex from Apriora, Fabric, Jobma and HireVue since it shipped AI Interviewer. A third group only collects one-way video and scores nothing: Willo, Spark Hire and Hireflix. Of the twelve vendors on this page, four publish a price on their own site and eight do not. Sapia.ai is one of the eight, and it is the only one that charges per hire rather than per seat, per role or per year.

Sapia.ai, which began life as PredictiveHire, is the vendor most US volume recruiters try when they want the first-round screen to happen in writing. A candidate answers five or so open questions by text, on a phone, with no camera and no scheduled slot, and the platform returns structured insight plus a personality read. For retail, contact centre and frontline hiring, that removes the two things that kill throughput at the top of the funnel: calendars and no-shows. It is a genuinely good product for the job it was built for.
People end up on a Sapia.ai competitors list for three reasons, and it helps to know which one applies before comparing feature grids. The first is volume: Sapia.ai says plainly that its technology is designed to best serve companies hiring more than 500 people a year, so smaller employers are shopping outside its target. The second is format: text-only answers are fast and fair, but they cannot hear how someone handles a customer, and roles where tone matters push teams toward voice or video. The third is the quote: Sapia.ai prices per hire and will not publish a number, which is fine until you need a budget figure this quarter. The table below sorts every alternative by those three questions first.

Why it works
What your team gets with Sapia.AI competitors
Heard, not just read
The agent runs the first-round interview by voice or video and asks its own follow-ups, so you learn how a candidate actually handles a conversation instead of how carefully they typed.
Priced in public
Our plans are published rather than quoted after a discovery call, and we say plainly that they are launch prices and the product is not on sale yet. Eight of the twelve vendors here will not give you a number.
Works below 500 hires
There is no volume floor and no per-hire rate to negotiate. Teams filling ten roles a quarter get the same screening the enterprise gets.
What it handles
Interviewed, scored and shortlisted on autopilot
The agent invites each applicant, runs a role-tailored screening interview by voice or video, asks smart follow-ups, scores every answer against your rubric, and advances the strongest candidates into a ranked shortlist for your recruiters to review.
- Interviews every applicant on the req without a recruiter attending
- Asks unscripted follow-ups when an answer is vague or a claim needs testing
- Scores answers against the rubric you set, identically for every candidate
- Returns a ranked shortlist with transcripts and highlights, not just a filtered list
- Keeps consent, AI disclosure and the human final decision in place
Why InterviewAgent.ai
One agent that runs the whole first round
Not a one-way video tool, not a six-figure assessment suite, and not a staffing agency. Interview, score, rank and hand off in one place, shaped to the roles and rubric you already hire on.
Interviews every applicant
A role-tailored screening interview runs by voice or video, with smart follow-ups, on the candidate's schedule. Applicants consent and are told they are speaking with AI, so no qualified person waits days for a first call.
Scores to your rubric
Every answer is scored against the same structured rubric, with transcripts and highlights, so candidates are compared consistently and the scoring stays bias-audited against EEOC guidance and NYC Local Law 144.
Ranks the shortlist
The strongest candidates are advanced into a ranked shortlist your recruiters review. The agent never auto-hires or rejects, it only surfaces who to talk to next, and your team makes every decision.

Who are Sapia.ai's competitors?
Sapia.ai's direct competitors are the other conversational screening tools that talk to a candidate instead of collecting a recording: Paradox, whose Olivia assistant qualifies and schedules over text and SMS, and Humanly, which runs chat screening and then sits in on the human interview. All three keep the candidate in a messaging thread rather than in front of a camera, and all three are bought by teams whose problem is funnel volume rather than interview quality.
The indirect competitors are the ones that solve the same bottleneck by having something actually conduct the interview. InterviewAgent.ai, Alex from Apriora, Fabric, Jobma and HireVue's AI Interviewer all put an AI agent in the conversation, ask role-tailored questions, follow up when an answer is vague and score what was said. That is a different purchase from a chat screen, because the output is a ranked shortlist with transcripts rather than a filtered list of people who still need interviewing.
Then there is a third group that gets shortlisted alongside Sapia.ai and should not be, because nobody conducts anything: Willo, Spark Hire and Hireflix collect one-way video answers and leave the reviewing to you. They are cheaper for a reason. If your reviewers are the constraint, async video moves the work rather than removing it. Our one-way video interview software page covers that trade-off in detail.
How much does Sapia.ai cost?
Sapia.ai does not publish a price. Its pricing page, read on September 1, 2026, answers the question with an ROI argument and an offer to give you a tailored figure in a session. What it does disclose is the shape of the deal, and that is genuinely unusual: Sapia.ai charges per hire. In its own words, you can interview and assess as many people as you want without limits, and you only pay for the people you end up hiring.
That is the single most important thing to understand about Sapia.ai's commercial model, because it inverts how almost every competitor bills. Per-seat vendors like Metaview charge more as your hiring managers join. Per-role vendors like Willo's Lite plan cap how many jobs you can run. Sapia.ai instead scales with hires made, which is excellent if you screen enormous funnels to fill a predictable number of seats, and expensive per unit if you screen a handful of people for each hire. Sapia.ai also states it is designed to best serve companies hiring more than 500 people a year, so below that volume you are outside the model it was priced for.
Only four of the twelve vendors here publish a number at all: Fabric at $199 to $499 a month, Hireflix at $75 to $150 a month, Spark Hire at $249 to $299 a month for video, and Willo from $3,799 a year. We publish ours too, at $149, $399 and $999 a month, and we say plainly that those are launch prices and the product is not open for purchase yet. Everyone else, Sapia.ai included, quotes after a call. If you want the full picture, our AI interview software pricing page tracks what every vendor in this market actually publishes.
How does Sapia.ai work?
A candidate receives a link and answers a short set of open-ended questions by typing, usually five or so, on whatever device they already have. There is no slot to book, no camera, no download and no waiting for a recruiter to be free. Sapia.ai analyzes the written answers and returns structured results to the recruiter, along with a personality read and talent insights drawn from the language the candidate used. Every applicant gets the same questions, which is the fairness argument for the format.
The format is also the limitation, and it is worth being blunt about it because it is the main reason teams shop for alternatives. Typed answers tell you how someone writes under no time pressure. They do not tell you how they sound when a customer is angry, whether they can think on their feet, or how they handle a follow-up they did not expect. For a warehouse or fulfilment role that may not matter. For a contact centre seat, a sales floor or anything patient-facing, hearing the person is usually the whole point, which is why voice and video agents keep appearing on Sapia.ai shortlists.
Does Sapia.ai detect AI-generated answers?
Every vendor in this category is now asked this, and the honest answer for all of them, us included, is that no detector is reliable. Text is the hardest format to defend, because a candidate can paste a question into a chatbot and paste the answer back with nothing to give it away. Fabric markets AI-assisted-candidate detection as a headline feature. Treat any accuracy claim in this space, from any vendor, as unproven until it is independently audited.
The mitigation that actually works is structural rather than forensic. Unscripted follow-ups that dig into the specific answer just given are hard to fake in real time, especially when the response is spoken rather than typed. Asking the candidate to explain a number they cited, or to describe the part of a project that went wrong, produces something a generic generated answer cannot supply. This is the main reason a conducted interview holds up better than a collected one, and it is worth weighing against the convenience of text.
Chat, voice or video: which screening format should you actually buy?
Buy chat when the funnel is enormous, the roles are frontline and interchangeable, and completion rate is the metric you are optimizing. Text has the lowest friction of any format: no scheduling, no camera anxiety, no bandwidth problem, and it works on a cheap phone during a break. That is Sapia.ai's home ground and it is a real advantage.
Buy voice or a conducted AI interview when the role involves talking to someone. A spoken answer carries tone, pace, listening and recovery, and an agent that asks its own follow-ups gets past rehearsed material. This is the format we build, and the honest trade is that it takes a candidate ten to fifteen minutes instead of five, so you should expect a lower completion rate than text and a much better signal from the people who finish. Our AI phone screening and AI video interview pages go deeper on each.
Buy one-way video only if your reviewers genuinely have time to watch. It is the cheapest option on this page, and the reason is that it does none of the evaluation. Fifty recorded answers is fifty answers somebody has to sit through, and that is a worse problem than the one you started with when volume is high. See high-volume hiring software for how the formats compare once applicant counts get serious.
Where is Sapia.ai based, and who owns it?
Sapia.ai is an Australian company, founded and headquartered in Melbourne, and it was previously called PredictiveHire. The rebrand is still visible in its own structured data, which points at a LinkedIn page under the predictivehire handle. It is privately held and sells globally, with a customer base weighted toward large retail, contact centre, airline and rail employers.
For US buyers, the practical consequence is compliance geography rather than time zones. If you hire in New York City, an automated employment decision tool needs an independent bias audit from the last twelve months, a published summary and ten business days of candidate notice, and that duty follows the job, not your headquarters or your vendor's. Sapia.ai does publish an independent bias audit, which is more than most of this list. Illinois adds notice, explanation and consent under AIVIA, and its amended Human Rights Act named zip code as an impermissible proxy from January 1, 2026. Our AI hiring compliance page and the Local Law 144 bias audit walkthrough cover what to ask any vendor for.
