Talview Alternatives: 9 AI Interview Tools Compared on Cost

Talview sells exam proctoring and AI interviewing on one unit-priced contract with a 150 to 200 candidate minimum, so the right alternative depends on which half you need. Nine Talview competitors compared on who conducts the first round and what each charges, read from the vendor on the date shown.

The right Talview alternative depends on which half of Talview you were buying. If you want Ivy's job, an AI that conducts the first-round interview and scores it, a dedicated AI interview agent with a published monthly price does that without a 150 to 200 candidate minimum. If you mainly need proctored skills tests for technical roles, CodeSignal is the closest like-for-like option with a public price. Of the nine Talview competitors compared below, seven publish a price on their own site, and Talview itself publishes none.

Most lists of Talview alternatives mix two different markets. Talview sells exam proctoring to certification bodies, universities and training teams, led by an AI proctoring agent it calls Alvy, and it sells interviewing to employers, led by Ivy, an AI interviewer. When we read talview.com on September 27, 2026, the hiring side alone listed Ivy, scheduling, candidate verification, interview proctoring, live interview rooms, an interview builder, interview insights, workflow automation and telephone screening. A roundup that ranks Proctorio next to HireVue is answering two questions at once and neither of them well.

This guide is for the employer side: a talent acquisition lead, HR director or recruiting operations manager at a US company who has Talview on a shortlist or in a renewal conversation and wants to know what else does the hiring job. We build one of the products in the table, so treat that as a disclosed interest. Every price below was read from the vendor's own site on the date stated, and where a vendor publishes nothing the row says so rather than repeating an aggregator estimate.

Why do teams look for Talview alternatives?

Three reasons send teams looking for alternatives to Talview, and each points to a different replacement. The first is the commercial shape. Talview's pricing page states that pricing is unit-based per feature, that a pilot may carry charges above 10 candidates, and that a minimum commitment of approximately 150 to 200 candidates is typically required. For a team hiring a few dozen people a year, that floor can mean paying for interviews it never runs. We read the whole page line by line on Talview pricing.

The second is scope. Talview is strongest where interviewing and proctoring overlap: high-volume hiring for BPOs, IT services and contact centers, where identity checks and cheating detection matter as much as the conversation. A US employer that only wants the first round taken off its recruiters is buying a broader platform than the problem needs.

The third is what gets scored. Talview's Ivy page says the interviewer interprets non-verbal cues as well as verbal answers. Some buyers want that. Others, particularly employers hiring in Illinois or Maryland, would rather avoid the extra notice, consent and waiver steps that come with AI analysis of video and facial data, and prefer a tool that scores only what the candidate says.

Talview competitors compared on price and on who runs the interview

The most useful column is the third one. Talview competitors split into tools where an AI conducts the conversation, tools where the candidate records answers alone and someone on your team reviews them, and assessment platforms that set a test. Buying the wrong category is the usual reason these contracts are cancelled at renewal.

What is the best Talview alternative for AI interviewing?

If the part of Talview you wanted was Ivy, the closest Talview Ivy alternative is another AI interview agent, so compare them on four points: who writes the rubric, whether every score links to the transcript line behind it, whether follow-up questions come from the candidate's answer or from a branching script, and whether the vendor will hand you a bias audit summary for NYC Local Law 144 without a procurement fight. Those four separate a product that holds up in a hiring manager's review from one that only demos well.

Ours is built for exactly that job. It interviews every applicant on a req by voice or video, asks a follow-up when an answer is thin, scores each answer against the rubric you set, and returns a ranked shortlist with transcripts. Nobody is auto-rejected; a recruiter decides who advances. It is priced in public at $149, $399 and $999 a month, and you can move plans up or down as volume changes, which matters if your hiring is seasonal. How that compares across the category is laid out on AI interview software, and the scoring mechanics are on candidate interview scoring.

Fabric, InterviewFlowAI and TalentSprout also conduct the conversation with an AI agent and publish plans between $59 and $499 a month. Read their credit and overage rates as carefully as the headline, because two of the three charge per interview above the plan.

Is HireVue a good alternative to Talview?

HireVue is the most direct enterprise alternative, because both sell interviewing and assessment into large employers and both quote rather than publish. HireVue vs Talview mostly comes down to where each is strongest. HireVue has the longer record in enterprise assessments and structured video interviewing; Talview leans harder into proctoring, identity and fraud detection, and says so across its site. Neither prints a price, and in September 2026 HireVue's pricing page no longer even named its packages. If both are on your list, request quotes on the same candidate count and the same features, then compare them per completed interview. Our dated reading is on HireVue pricing.

Which Talview alternative is best for technical hiring?

For engineering roles, the question is whether you need a proctored coding test or a conversation about what the candidate actually built. CodeSignal publishes its Hire plans, from $79 a month billed annually, and sells coding assessments with proctoring alongside AI interviewer agents, so it is the closest published-price match to Talview's technical use. If your engineers are losing their week to first-round calls rather than to grading tests, a conversational screen is aimed at that problem instead. We compared both approaches on technical screening software.

What if you used Talview for certification exams as well as hiring?

Then you are splitting a contract, and that is worth doing deliberately. Talview's proctoring line serves certification programs, customer education and internal learning teams, and a hiring-only replacement will not cover it. Keep the two decisions separate: price the interview tool against your hiring volume, and price the exam side against your testing volume. Many internal training teams find their testing needs are lighter than a proctoring contract assumes; if the job is checking that new hires understood a policy manual, it can be enough to turn the training PDF into a scored quiz and keep proctoring for the high-stakes exams only.

What does a Talview alternative cost?

Among the vendors that publish, the range runs from $59 a month for an InterviewFlowAI pilot plan to $999 a month for our Scale plan, with most AI interview agents between $199 and $499 a month before per-interview credits. Recorded video tools look cheaper at the headline, Hireflix from $75 a month billed yearly and Spark Hire from $249, because your team still watches and scores every recording. The three that do not publish, Talview, HireVue and Sapia.ai, are quoted against volume, so ask for the pricing unit, the minimum, the overage rate, any implementation fee and the renewal uplift in writing.

Then compare everything per completed interview. Our Starter plan is $149 for up to 100 interviews a month, which is $1.49 an interview at full use; Scale works out at about 50 cents. The larger number is the one outside any table: if recruiters spend twenty minutes on each of 300 first-round screens a month, that is 100 hours, and it is usually worth more than any subscription here.

How to choose between Talview and its alternatives

Name the job that is broken. If you need interviewing, identity checks and exam proctoring from one vendor and you screen well above 200 candidates a year, Talview deserves a serious look and most tools in this table are not full replacements. If the job is technical assessment, look at CodeSignal. If candidates will only use their phone, look at Sapia.ai. If the job is the first-round interview itself, shortlist the AI interview agents and run the same real requisition through each.

If you want to see a scored first round before talking to anyone, the interview agent at the top of this page will run one on a role you name and return the transcript, the scores and the ranking. That is a faster test of any vendor's claims, ours included, than another demo call.
