The best Ribbon AI alternative depends on what you are paying Ribbon for. If it is the scored AI interview itself, InterviewAgent.ai (from $149 a month for 100 interviews), InterviewFlowAI (from $59) and HireFoundry (from $99 a month billed annually) all publish lower entry prices. If it is texting frontline applicants and booking them, HappyFleet and Classet are the closest match. Ribbon's own plans start at $499 a month billed annually for 100 interviews, read on October 6, 2026.
Ribbon is a good product with an honest pricing page, which is rarer in this category than it should be. Its AI recruiter interviews applicants by voice or video at any hour, chases them by SMS, WhatsApp and email, and scores and ranks each interview for a recruiter. The reason buyers look around is usually the shape of the bill: seats, active roles and interviews are all capped per plan, and overage runs $2.50 to $4.00 per interview.
This guide is for a US talent acquisition lead, operations manager or agency owner who has Ribbon on a shortlist or a renewal and wants to know what else does the job and what it costs. We build one of the tools below, so treat that as a disclosed interest. Every price was read on the vendor's own site on the date shown, and where a vendor prints nothing we say so. The plan-by-plan math for Ribbon itself, including cost per interview on every tier, is on our Ribbon AI pricing page.

Seven of the nine alternatives publish a price. The two that do not are both AI interviewers sold through a demo, so if you want to compare them with Ribbon you will need a quote first.
What does Ribbon AI cost compared with its alternatives?
Compare cost per interview, not the entry price. Ribbon's Growth plan is $499 a month billed annually for 100 interviews, which is $4.99 per interview if you use all of them and more if you do not. Business works out to $2.50 and Scale to $2.00. On our own plans the same unit costs $1.49 on Starter, $0.80 on Growth and $0.50 on Scale at monthly prices, and half that billed yearly. HappyFleet runs from $7.45 per interview on Starter down to $2.33 on Pro. Classet's Starter is $4.98 per completed interview on annual billing. InterviewFlowAI states its own figures: $2.95 per credit on Pilot and $0.99 on Growth and Scale.
Two caps change the math more than the headline. Ribbon limits active roles to 2, 5 or 10 depending on the plan, so a team with eight open jobs needs Scale even if it only runs 200 interviews a month. And it limits seats the same way. HireFoundry and HappyFleet offer unlimited seats, and our plans have no cap on open roles. If you hire into many jobs at once, check the role cap before the interview count.
Which Ribbon AI alternative is best for frontline and hourly hiring?
HappyFleet and Classet, with Ribbon itself still a strong contender. All three are built for the warehouse, restaurant, retail and care roles where applicants apply from a phone and disappear if nobody answers within a day. HappyFleet bundles the AI interview with chat, SMS, self-scheduling and document capture, and every plan has unlimited users and jobs, which suits a multi-site employer. Classet runs the screen as a phone call, which many hourly candidates prefer to a video link.
Ribbon's advantage here is outreach. It texts and messages applicants on WhatsApp before the interview, which lifts completion. If you choose a tool without built-in texting, your recruiters can still reach applicants by SMS from a cloud business phone number rather than their personal mobiles, which keeps the conversation on a company line. For the role-by-role setup, see our guide to high-volume hiring software.
Which Ribbon AI alternative is cheapest for small teams?
On published prices, InterviewFlowAI's Pilot plan at $59 a month is the lowest entry ticket for an AI interviewer, but it covers 20 credits and video only. HireFoundry's Starter at $99 a month billed annually includes 1,000 interview minutes, roughly 66 interviews of 15 minutes. Our Starter is $149 a month, or $888 a year, for up to 100 scored interviews by voice, video or in writing with two recruiter seats.
If you do not need the AI to conduct the interview at all, Hirevire at $49 a month and Hireflix at $75 a month billed yearly are cheaper still. The catch is labor. With a recording tool someone on your team watches every answer, and at 100 applicants a month and four minutes of footage each, that is close to seven hours of review that an AI interviewer would have scored for you. Price that time before you choose the cheaper tool.
Which alternatives score interviews against your own rubric?
Ribbon scores and ranks every interview, and so do InterviewAgent.ai, InterviewFlowAI and HireFoundry. The difference to test is whose criteria the score reflects. Ask each vendor whether you write the scoring anchors for every question, whether the score shows the transcript quote behind it, and whether two candidates who give the same answer always get the same score. A ranking you cannot trace back to an answer is hard to defend to a hiring manager and harder to defend in an audit.
On our product, each role gets tailored structured questions and a rubric, every answer is scored against that rubric identically, and the shortlist shows the transcript and highlights behind each score. How that works in practice is on interview scorecard software, and the wider field of tools is compared on AI interview software.
What to check before you switch from Ribbon
Start with the contract. Ribbon's published plans are billed annually unless you chose monthly, so find your renewal date and notice period before you plan a move. Then export what you will need later: interview recordings, transcripts, scores and the questions you wrote for each role. Your interview questions are the asset you will rebuild first in any new tool.
Then check compliance. Ribbon publishes a page saying it passed a New York City Local Law 144 bias audit, but the duty to audit the tool as you use it and to notify candidates sits with you as the employer. If you hire in New York City, keep the audit summary and notices tied to your Ribbon period, and ask any replacement the same questions. Our page on AI hiring compliance lists them. Finally, run the replacement on one live role in parallel for two weeks and compare its shortlist with your recruiters' own picks before you move every role over.
Ribbon AI alternatives frequently asked questions
Is there a cheaper alternative to Ribbon AI?
Yes, on a per-interview basis. Ribbon's Growth plan costs $4.99 per included interview on annual billing. InterviewAgent.ai costs $1.49 per interview on its $149 Starter plan, or $0.74 billed yearly, and InterviewFlowAI and HireFoundry also publish lower entry prices.
Does Ribbon AI do phone interviews?
Ribbon interviews by voice and video in a browser and reaches applicants by SMS, WhatsApp and email. If your candidates prefer a plain phone call, Classet and InterviewFlowAI's Growth plan run the interview over the phone.
What is the difference between Ribbon AI and HireVue?
Ribbon publishes its prices and sells self-serve plans from $499 a month billed annually, with a 7-day trial. HireVue sells by quote, with no price on its pricing page, and is aimed at large employers running structured hiring programs.
Which Ribbon AI alternative has no limit on open roles?
HappyFleet lists unlimited jobs on every plan, and InterviewAgent.ai counts only interviews and recruiter seats, with no cap on how many roles are open at once. Ribbon caps active roles at 2, 5 or 10 on its published plans.
If you would rather see a scored first round than read about one, the interview agent at the top of this page runs one on a role you name. Plans and interview counts are on our pricing page.
