Best AI Interview Software for Call Centers in 2026
A call center agent is hired to talk on the phone, so the first-round screen should happen on the phone. Eight vendors compared on the format they actually screen in, who conducts the interview, and what each one publishes about price, with the per-interview cost worked out.

The best AI interview software for a call center screens applicants in the medium the job is done in: a spoken conversation, with follow-up questions, scored against the same rubric for everyone. Of the eight vendors below, read from their own pages between September 1 and September 10, 2026, three conduct a spoken AI interview, one screens by typed chat, one by assessment and simulation, and three publish a price you can budget against without a sales call.
Call center hiring breaks most recruiting software because of two numbers: how many applicants a single requisition draws, and how often the seat opens again. A 300-seat center with ordinary turnover is effectively always hiring, usually in waves timed to a training class start date, and the first round has to be finished before that date whether the recruiting team had time for it or not.
This guide compares the tools US contact centers and BPOs actually shortlist, says what each vendor publishes on the date we read it, and works out the cost per screen where a price exists. We build one of the products on the list, so treat that as a disclosed interest and check every claim against the vendor rather than against us.
What should a call center screening interview measure?
How the applicant sounds and reasons in a live conversation, because that is the job. An agent on a voice queue spends the shift explaining things to strangers, some of them angry, without the option to edit a reply. Resumes tell you almost nothing about that, and neither does a typed answer to a scenario prompt, which is a writing sample.
That points to four things worth scoring in the first round: clarity when explaining a process, how the applicant opens a conversation with an upset customer, judgment when policy and the customer's request conflict, and the practical facts that decide whether they can make the training class. Schedule, shift availability and start date are pass or fail facts and belong in the application form. The other three need an interview, and they need a follow-up question when the first answer is vague. Our AI interview for customer service hiring page shows how that scenario rubric is built, and the full question set is in customer service interview questions to ask candidates.
Which call center recruiting software is worth shortlisting?
Every figure below was read from the vendor's own pages on the date shown. Where a vendor publishes nothing, we say so rather than repeat a third-party estimate.

One thing worth saying plainly: on this list, InterviewFlowAI is the most specific to call center agents and the most transparent on price, and a center that needs Spanish-language phone screens today has a concrete option there. We would rather you know that than find it out after a demo.
Is a phone interview, a chat interview or an assessment better for call center hiring?
For a voice queue, a spoken interview produces the most relevant signal, because it samples the job directly. Chat and assessment formats both have real strengths, and the right answer depends on which seats you are filling.
A typed chat interview, which is Sapia's format, is a good fit for chat and email support seats, where written clarity is the job. It is also easy for applicants to complete from a phone at any hour. For a voice seat, though, it measures a different skill from the one you are paying for, and a strong writer can be a hesitant talker.
Assessments and job simulations, Harver's approach, are strong at ranking very large applicant pools on aptitude and situational judgment, and they are the established choice for big BPOs. They do not hold a conversation, so they tell you how someone reasons through a simulated scenario rather than how they sound explaining it to a person.
A spoken AI interview, whether by phone or in a browser, asks the scenario question out loud, hears the answer, and follows up when the answer is thin. That is the closest thing to a first live call you can run at volume, and it is why we built our AI phone screening around it. Recorded one-way video is the weakest fit here: it asks the applicant to perform for a camera, which is not the job, and someone on your team still has to watch every recording.
How much does call center hiring software cost per screen?
Per completed screen is the right unit, because call center volume is high and arrives in waves. Converting the published prices gives numbers you can put next to what a recruiter phone screen costs today.
| Plan | Monthly price | Screens included | Cost per screen at full use |
|---|---|---|---|
| InterviewFlowAI Growth, billed monthly | $299 | 303 | About $0.99 |
| InterviewFlowAI Growth, billed yearly | $250 | 303 | About $0.83 |
| TalentSprout Starter | $199 | 50 | About $3.98, then $4 each |
| TalentSprout Growth | $499 | 250 | About $2.00, then $2.50 each |
| InterviewAgent.ai Growth, launch pricing | $399 | 500 | About $0.80 |
| InterviewAgent.ai Scale, launch pricing | $999 | 2,000 | About $0.50 |
Now the comparison that matters. A recruiter spending fifteen minutes on a phone screen, at a fully loaded $28 an hour, costs about $7 in labor per call that connects, and first-attempt connect rates with hourly applicants are poor. Every priced tool above is cheaper per completed screen than that, usually by a wide margin. The real differences are in what the screen measures, whether it runs by phone, and how the price behaves when a new training class doubles your volume for three weeks. For the wider market, including vendors outside the contact center niche, see our AI interview software pricing comparison.
How do you screen hundreds of call center applicants before a class start date?
Remove the calendar from the first round. When every applicant can complete the screen the evening they apply, the constraint stops being recruiter hours and becomes how quickly someone reviews the ranked shortlist. In practice that turns a two-week phone-tag cycle into a few days, which matters most when a class of twenty needs forty viable finalists by a fixed Monday.
Three habits make it work. Put the pass or fail facts, shift, schedule and start date, in the application so nobody interviews an applicant who cannot make the class. Score every interview against the same anchors, written before the requisition opens, so the ranking means the same thing on day one and day nine. And keep a recruiter on every advance decision, which is both better hiring and the cleaner position under rules like New York City's Local Law 144. The broader playbook is on our high volume hiring software page.
It is also worth planning for how the role itself is changing. Many centers now route password resets and order status questions to an AI customer service agent before a human picks up, which leaves your human agents with a larger share of the difficult, emotional and multi-step contacts. That raises the bar on exactly the de-escalation and judgment skills the first-round interview should be scoring, and it is a good reason to rewrite a rubric that was built for a queue of simple calls.
What should you ask on a demo?
Ask each vendor to run the screen on you, by phone, with the same scenario you would give a real applicant. Listen for whether it asks a follow-up when your answer is vague, or simply moves to the next question. Ask for the completion rate with hourly applicants as a number, and ask how the number was calculated. Ask what the recruiter sees afterwards: a score alone, or a score tied to the transcript excerpt it rests on.
Then ask the commercial questions in writing. Is the price per interview, per seat, per hire or flat. What happens in a hiring surge, and what does exceeding a cap cost. Which states' recording consent rules does the phone flow handle, given that the obligation follows the applicant's location, which we cover in interview recording consent laws. And if a vendor tells you the tool rejects applicants on its own, treat that as a compliance problem you would be buying.
The honest summary
If your seats are chat and email support, a typed chat interview such as Sapia's samples the right skill, and our Sapia competitors comparison shows where it sits in the market. If you are a large BPO ranking thousands of applicants on aptitude, an assessment platform like Harver is the established route. If your seats are voice and your problem is that nobody has time to phone every applicant before the class starts, buy a tool that conducts a spoken interview and scores it. InterviewFlowAI and InterviewAgent.ai both do that, and you can try ours at the top of this page to hear what a scored call center screen sounds like before you talk to anyone.
