The best Vervoe alternative depends on which job you bought Vervoe for. For work-sample and skills tests, Adaface (from $500 a year), TestGorilla (Assessments Core from $215 a month billed annually) and Truffle (from $49 a month) all publish a price. For the first conversation with every applicant, the screen a recruiter used to run by phone, compare AI interviewers such as InterviewAgent.ai (from $149 a month), Classet and HappyFleet. Of the nine options below, seven print a price on their own site.

Vervoe made its name with job simulations: a candidate does a slice of the real work before anyone reads a resume, and machine learning grades and ranks the result. It has since added cognitive tests, an AI Assessment Builder, a chat-based AI Screening Agent and interview scheduling with interviewer prep. What it no longer does is publish a price. On October 5, 2026 vervoe.com/pricing had one Request pricing button and a list of enterprise features, and the self-serve plans that older roundups describe were not on it.

That is usually when a buyer starts looking around. This guide is for a US talent acquisition lead, HR manager or agency owner who has Vervoe on a shortlist or a renewal and wants to know what else does the job and what it costs. We build one of the tools below, so treat that as a disclosed interest. Every price was read on the vendor's own site on the date shown, and where a vendor prints nothing we say so. What Vervoe itself publishes, and what it stopped publishing, is laid out on our Vervoe pricing page.

What is the best alternative to Vervoe?

There is no single best one, because people buy Vervoe for two different reasons. Some want proof a candidate can do the work: a support agent drafting a reply to an angry customer, an analyst cleaning a messy spreadsheet. Others mostly want to stop reading hundreds of resumes and use the test as a filter. The first group should compare Vervoe with other assessment platforms. The second group often gets more from a short scored interview, which is quicker for candidates and still produces a ranking.

A useful exercise before any demo: pull last quarter's data and check how many candidates started a Vervoe assessment, how many finished, and how many of the finishers your hiring managers actually agreed with. If completion is low or the ranking rarely matches your managers' picks, a cheaper test will not fix that. A different first step might.

Vervoe alternatives with published pricing for skills tests

Adaface is the most transparent on unit cost. It sells credits by the year: Starter is $500 for 50 credits, Pro $900 for 100, Scale $3,000 for 500, Growth $5,500 for 1,000 and Enterprise $20,000 for 5,000. One candidate costs one credit, a ready-made test costs five credits once and a custom test ten. On Scale that works out to about $6 per candidate before test fees, which makes it easy to compare against any quote.

TestGorilla prices its assessment product per account rather than per seat. On October 5, 2026 Assessments Core started at $215 a month and Plus at $520 a month, billed annually, with a smaller tier for light use. It also sells a separate sourcing product priced per seat, so check which one a sales rep is quoting. Its pricing page lists SOC 2 Type II and GDPR.

Truffle is the odd one out, and for some teams the closest fit. One credit pool covers resume screening, short assessments and one-way video answers: a resume costs 1 credit, an assessed candidate 2 and a one-way interview 5. Starter is $49 a month billed monthly only, Core $99 a month billed annually or $119 monthly, Team $199 or $239 and Scale $499 or $599. Truffle says it retired its flat $149 plan in June 2026, so ignore any listing that still shows it.

If what you actually need is narrower, say a 15-question knowledge check you write yourself for a certification or a product role, an auto-graded assessment builder will cost far less than any enterprise platform and take an afternoon to set up. Job simulations earn their price on roles where the work itself is the hard part to judge.

Vervoe alternatives that interview the candidate

Vervoe's AI Screening Agent is a chat assistant. It greets the applicant by name, asks your screening questions one at a time, for example work authorization, salary range, a required certification or minimum age, then shows pass or fail and hands passing candidates to the assessment. That is a useful knockout step. It is not a first-round interview that asks open questions and follows up on a thin answer.

InterviewAgent.ai does that interview. The agent runs the first round by voice or video on the candidate's schedule, asks a follow-up when an answer is vague, scores every answer against anchors your team wrote and returns a ranked shortlist with the transcript behind each score. Plans are $149, $399, $999 and $1,998 a month for 100, 500, 2,000 and 4,000 interviews, which is $1.49 an interview on Starter and about $0.50 on Scale. How the scoring works is set out on interview scorecard software.

For frontline hiring by phone, Classet publishes Starter at $249 a month billed annually for 50 completed interviews and Scale at $999 for 250, and HappyFleet runs from $149 a month for 20 AI interviews to $1,399 for 600, with an ATS included. The wider field of tools where software conducts the conversation is compared on AI interview software.

Should you replace Vervoe or put an interview in front of it?

For many teams the answer is the second. A work sample is the most expensive thing you can ask a candidate for: it can take 30 to 60 minutes, and the applicants with the most options are the least willing to do one for a role they have not discussed with anyone. A 10 to 15 minute scored conversation first does two things. It filters out the candidates who clearly do not fit before they spend an hour on a task, and it gives the ones who do fit a reason to invest the time.

The economics usually support it. If 400 people apply and 400 take a simulation, you pay assessment volume on all of them. If 400 take a short interview and the top 60 take the simulation, your assessment bill falls by roughly 85% while the interview cost is a fixed monthly plan. Run the numbers with your own volume and your Vervoe quote before deciding, and see how teams structure the steps on candidate screening software.

What to check before you leave Vervoe

Three things. First, the renewal date and notice period in your order form, since annual software contracts often renew automatically unless you cancel in writing 30 to 90 days before the term ends. Second, your data: export the candidate results, scores and any custom assessments you paid to have built, because a custom simulation is the asset you are most likely to want to rebuild elsewhere. Third, your compliance file. If Vervoe's grading ranked candidates you hired in New York City, keep the bias audit summary and candidate notices it supported, because Local Law 144 duties sit with you as the employer, not with the vendor. Our page on AI hiring compliance lists what to keep.

Then run the replacement on one live role in parallel for two weeks and compare its ranking with your hiring managers' own picks on the same applicants. If the overlap is good and candidates finish at a higher rate, move the rest of your roles over before the Vervoe term ends.

Vervoe alternatives frequently asked questions

Is there a cheaper alternative to Vervoe?

Very likely, though you can only be sure once you have Vervoe's quote, because it publishes no price. Among published options read October 5, 2026, Adaface starts at $500 a year for 50 credits and Truffle at $49 a month. For a scored first-round interview instead of a test, InterviewAgent.ai starts at $149 a month for up to 100 interviews.

Does Vervoe still have a Pay and Go plan?

Not on its own website. The Pay and Go, Starter and Growth tiers that several roundups still list did not appear on vervoe.com/pricing on October 5, 2026. Existing customers may keep legacy plans, so ask Vervoe what a new account can buy before you rely on any of those figures.

What is the difference between Vervoe and TestGorilla?

Both sell pre-hire skills tests. Vervoe leans on job simulations graded by machine learning and sells to enterprises by quote. TestGorilla leans on a large library of standardized tests and publishes per-account prices, with Assessments Core from $215 a month billed annually.

Which Vervoe alternative interviews candidates instead of testing them?

InterviewAgent.ai runs a spoken first-round interview by voice or video, follows up on thin answers and scores each one against your rubric, from $149 a month. Classet and HappyFleet run AI phone screens for frontline roles. Vervoe's own AI Screening Agent is a chat with knockout questions, not an open-ended interview.

If you would rather see a scored first round than read about one, the interview agent at the top of this page runs one on a role you name. Plans and interview counts are on our pricing page.
