Sales is the role where the resume tells you least and the phone screen costs most. Eight tools compared on whether they make the candidate handle an objection out loud, who conducts the interview, and what each one publishes about price, with the cost per screen worked out.

The best AI interview software for sales hiring makes the candidate talk: it asks an objection or a discovery question out loud, follows up when the answer is vague, and scores what was said against a rubric your sales leader wrote. Of the eight tools below, read from their own pages in September 2026, four conduct a spoken AI interview, two only record answers, one grades skills tests, and one takes notes on calls your team runs. Five publish a price you can budget against without a demo.
Sales is the role where resume screening fails most openly. Every application claims 120 percent of quota, every candidate writes a confident summary, and none of it tells you whether the person can hold a first call with a skeptical buyer. That is why most sales teams still burn manager time on phone screens, and why an AI interview for sales roles is worth a serious look: the signal you need is spoken, and spoken screening is the part that does not scale by hand.
This guide compares the tools US revenue teams actually shortlist for SDR and account executive hiring, says what each vendor publishes on the date we read it, and works out cost per screen where a price exists. We build one of the products on the list, so treat that as a disclosed interest and check every claim against the vendor.
What should AI interview software for sales roles actually test?
How the candidate sounds under light pressure, because that is the job. A useful sales screen samples three things: handling a live objection without discounting or folding, asking a discovery question that uncovers a real problem, and giving a specific quota number with enough context to survive a follow-up. Resumes and personality tests cannot sample any of the three.
The two seats need different rubrics. An SDR interview software setup should score tone on a cold opener, resilience after a flat no, and whether the candidate keeps going when the script runs out. Account executive interview software has to reach further: discovery, a price objection, and a lost deal described without blaming the buyer. Screening both against one rubric is how teams hire AEs who prospect well and cannot close. The question bank we use for both is in sales interview questions to ask candidates.
Which AI interview software is best for sales hiring?

Said plainly: InterviewFlowAI is the most sales-specific tool on this list and one of the most transparent on price, and a team hiring SDRs today has a concrete option there. We would rather you hear that from us than after a demo.
Is a recorded video interview good enough for sales candidates?
For sales, usually not. A one-way recording lets the candidate rehearse and re-record until the answer sounds polished, and nobody pushes back when the quota number is vague. Polish in a take you controlled is a different skill from composure on a call you did not script, and the second one is what you are paying for.
Recorded tools still have a place. Hireflix at $75 a month and Spark Hire at $249 a month remove scheduling friction cheaply, and for a team hiring two reps a quarter that may be all the problem needs. The catch is volume: 150 applicants for an SDR opening at four minutes a recording is ten hours of someone watching before a shortlist exists. A spoken AI interview that probes the vague answer and returns a ranked list removes that review work instead of moving it.
How much does AI screening for sales reps cost per candidate?
Per completed screen is the unit that matters, because sales openings draw large applicant pools and reopen often. Converting the published prices gives numbers you can put beside what a manager phone screen costs now.
| Plan | Monthly price | Interviews included | Cost per screen at full use |
|---|---|---|---|
| InterviewFlowAI Growth, billed monthly | $299 | 303 | About $0.99 |
| InterviewFlowAI Growth, billed yearly | $250 | 303 | About $0.83 |
| TalentSprout Starter | $199 | 50 | About $3.98, then $4 each |
| TalentSprout Growth | $499 | 250 | About $2.00, then $2.50 each |
| InterviewAgent.ai Starter | $149 | 100 | About $1.49 |
| InterviewAgent.ai Growth | $399 | 500 | About $0.80 |
One detail to check before you budget: TalentSprout's homepage FAQ, read the same day, describes $199 a month plus $2 per completed interview, while its pricing page lists 50 included interviews and then $4 each on Starter. We used the pricing page. Ask for the overage rate in writing whichever vendor you pick.
Now the comparison that decides it. A sales manager at a fully loaded $75 an hour spending twenty minutes on a phone screen costs $25 per call that connects, and a first-round pool of forty candidates is $1,000 of manager time before anyone reaches a second interview. Every priced AI interviewer above does that round for a small fraction of the figure. The wider market, including vendors outside sales, is broken down in our AI interview software pricing comparison.
Can AI tell whether a sales candidate will hit quota?
No, and any vendor implying otherwise is overselling. Territory, product, comp plan and manager quality drive a large share of sales results, and none of them are properties of the candidate. What a screen can score reliably is observable behavior: whether the objection was acknowledged before it was answered, whether the pitch had a structure, and whether the quota story held together when probed.
Those signals are predictive enough to decide who earns a live interview with your sales leader, which is the job of a first round. The scoring logic, and its limits, is set out in how AI interview scoring works.
How do you run a sales screen that hiring managers trust?
Let the person who owns the number write the rubric. Sales hiring AI tools configured by HR alone tend to reward polish, and polish is not attainment. Have the sales leader describe what a strong discovery answer sounds like at levels 1, 3 and 5, then hold every candidate to those same anchors.
Then match the exercise to the first ninety days of the seat. For an SDR whose first month is spent building outbound sequences in cold email software, add a question about how they would open a conversation with a prospect who ignored three emails, and score whether the answer is specific to that buyer. For an AE, replace it with a pricing objection from a buyer comparing you with a cheaper competitor. Keep the transcript attached to every score, so the hiring manager can read the exact answer that earned it. Scorecard mechanics are covered on our interview scorecard software page.
Finally, keep a person on every advance decision. It is better hiring, and it is the cleaner position under rules like New York City's Local Law 144, which applies to automated tools that substantially assist a hiring decision for roles located in the city.
What should you ask on a sales hiring software demo?
Ask the vendor to run its sales screen on you, with a real objection. Answer vaguely on purpose and listen for whether it follows up or moves to the next question. Ask whether the rubric is yours to edit or a fixed sales profile. Ask what the manager receives: a score alone, or a score tied to the quote it rests on.
Then get the commercial terms in writing: the unit of pricing, the overage rate, how many seats sales managers need, and what a hiring surge costs when a new team opens. If a tool rejects candidates on its own, treat that as a compliance problem you would be buying.
The short answer
If you hire a couple of reps a year, a recorded tool like Hireflix removes scheduling for a low fixed fee. If you hire SDRs or AEs in volume and nobody has time to phone every applicant, buy a tool that conducts a spoken interview, follows up and scores it. InterviewFlowAI, TalentSprout and InterviewAgent.ai all do that and publish prices. Our AI interview for sales hiring page shows the sales rubric in detail, and you can try the interview at the top of this page to hear how a scored objection sounds before you talk to anyone.
